Dating back to the 1700s, The Old Cottage is bursting with traditional character. The interior is a delightful mix of quirky vintage chic and warm homely touches. Step inside to discover a spacious entrance hall which is also home to the dining table. This handsome room has a lovely period feel with Yorkshire stone flagstones underfoot, a church pew and a GUINNESS sign hanging on the chimney breast. The elegant drop-leaf painted dining table and chairs offer a peaceful spot to settle down to lunch.
To the left is the cosy living room with its exposed brick fireplace, painted beams overhead and sash window to the front. A cast iron wood-burning stove keeps everything nice and toasty and there’s a large comfy sofa to curl up on beside the fire. There are lots of modern comforts too, a large SMART TV with Freeview and Netflix provides evening entertainment and Wi-Fi is available if you need to catch up online.
The galley-style kitchen is set at the rear of the cottage through the entrance hall. It has that same traditional charm as the rest of the cottage, with a Belfast sink and overhead rack for pots and pans. There’s also a gas hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine provided, as well as a fridge with an ice-box drawer – essential for those afternoon G & Ts in the garden! A DAB radio provides the soundtrack.
The bathroom is also on ground level and has a quirky vintage feel. There’s a beautiful Victorian porcelain bath to sink into each evening, and a shower attachment and curtain gives you the option for a shower too.
Make your way up the stairs via the living room to find a bright and spacious landing area home to a white day bed. Grab a good book and escape up here for the afternoon. This day bed will convert into a trundle bed sleeping two additional people quite comfortably if required. This room flows straight into the main bedroom just next door, another light and cheerful room with white panelled ceilings and traditional pine furniture.
Outside you’ll find discover a delightful enclosed rear garden which has a secret, magical feel with little nooks and crannies to explore. Take a seat in the sun and delve into a glossy magazine, glass of bubbly optional! A Gas BBQ is provided for those balmy summer evenings. A shed provides dry bike storage too if you want to explore the Wolds on two wheels.
